SParTA™ System is an acronym for Suture Parameters for Training and Assessment System.
At present, SParTA consists of:
- An scoring system to objectively assess the product of a standard microsurgical task.
- A software that does performs the scoring
The system was developed by us to meet the needs in our microsurgery training laboratory. We wanted a system that is:
- accessible for use in both formal instructional settings and self-practice
- evidence based
- extensible to different microsurgical tasks
The initial design and work on the system began in early 2020 and we now have a functioning system that we have internally evaluated and is being used in our courses for formative assessment of microsurgical skills.
We plan to release the scoring system and software for public use.
